Seva-In-Action:: Integrating people with disabilities

Seva-in-Action aims at rehabilitating people with disabilities -- mental or physical -- through its Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) programme. This programme is unique in that it utilises the community's resources and the resources of the family of the disabled person. Primary education is the most neglected field. A majority of children attend school for less than five years and drop out. A dismal 16 per cent of the children complete seven years in school. The conditions in government schools are not encouraging for good learning.Hence the Government of Karnataka invited public participation in an attempt to bring about the overall development of schools. The initiative is laudable since it appeals to the public to adopt government schools. Many individuals and organizations have come forward and lent their support for this programme.

Sevabharathi, a unit of Rashtrothana Parishat, works with children from marginal sections and provides them education and vocational training. Corporates and philanthropic organizations have supported the programme and adopted 6 government schools last year. RASHTROTTHANA NEUROTHERAPY CENTRE� CELEBRATES ON COMPLETION OF ONE YEAR

Rashtrotthana Neurotherapy Centre, part of the Rashtrotthana Parishath, a non-profit, non-government organization, working for the noble couse of nation building, celebrated completion of its first year of dedicated service on 28th October at Bangalore.

Started on 28th Oct 2002, to give medical services to the needy, Centre uses Neurotherapy which is one of the branches of indigenous, alternative medicine.The centre which has been dedicated to Shri Dr. Lajpatrai Mehra, who has done noble service in the field of Neurotherapy, has many achievements in its credit in the last one year.

The center has given 14,000 consultations and registered 900 patients, out of them coming from all over the nation. Jankalyan Blood Bank, Nasik: Rendering yeomen service to the society

Jankalyan Blood Bank at Nasik is one of the ten blood banks from the chain of blood banks in Maharstra run by Rashtriya Swyamsevak Sangh Jankalyan Samiti.

Established in 1989 it has been rendering relentless social services at very economical cost to the needy patients.Jankalyan Samiti has been active in the city of Nasik in the State of Maharastra. The Volunteers were organising blood donation camps throughout year on variours occasions with the help of Government blood banks and Indian Medical Association�s (IMA) blood bank. Many volunteers offered their names in the �On Call� donor list to render services in emergency for needy patients.

However, with increasing demand of blood in the Medical field a need was felt to start another social-based blood bank to cater to the needy patients in the district.
