Seva Bharathi AP Awarded Best NGO 2nd consecutive year

Seva Bharati Unit of Andhra pradesh has been awarded
the best NGO (Community development organisation) by the District Administration of Mahaboobnagar district for the commendable efforts in the field of Child labour rehabilitation and Child rights. This is the second consecutive year for which Seva Bharathi has been awarded and recognised of its efforts.

this has been presented on the independence day celebrations. hon.minister sri Redya Nayak and the district collector v.usha rani presented the award.

Surat, the industrial city in Gujarat with more than 35 lakh people,
is facing an unprecedented natural disaster and still remains marooned
after water from the raging Tapti river flooded it.

More than seven lakh people are marooned on terraces and on high
grounds are desperately waiting for help.

There are shortages of drinking water and food. The transport system
between Ahmedabad and Surat has virtually snapped because of the floods.

Water levels have reached 15-20 feet in many areas and locals fear
that many more people may have drowned in the flood waters.

The collector office in Surat is submerged under 12 feet of water, and
a temporary control room which was set up is also not functioning. The
administration machinery has come to a standstill due to flooding in
all government buildings.

The Godavari Flood Disaster-Aug, 2006.- Andhra Pradesh August month become a terrible month since so many years for those who are living by the side of the Godavari, Sabari in Andhra Pradesh. This Year because of heavy rain in Maharastra and Orissa both the rivers are swollen like Tsunami. Especially, Khammam, East and West Godavari Districts are badly affected with unwarned flood. Usually flood comes slowly, but this time with in hours the height of the water level of the Godavari raised to 67.7 ft. Thousands of people ran away from their houses to safety places with out protecting their valuables even they could not save paddy and other food materials. In Khammam District, Chintoor, Kunavaram, Vara Ramachandra puram, kukkunuru, velerupadu and Boorugumpadu are badly effected mandals. Chintoor, V.R.Puram and Kunavaram are affected by the aggravated river Sabari. It came like Tsunami and wiped away the villages, crops and Pakka buildings also. Manonethra with affection, is a program for the empowerment of the differently-abled. As an initial activity Seva Bharathi has taken up the cause of the Visually challenged. For the past 4 years Manonethra team has surveyed the Hostels of the Visually challenged and worked with the Visually challenged in the 3 out of 11 Hostels for the Visually challenged.

The mission was to reach the 770 inmates of the Hostels in the twin cities initially. The inmates were deprived of the reading material, and the scribes to pen the exams of the visually challenged while the dictate. It was a herculen task as the Govt which is supposed to provide the Scribes has obviously was unable to match the demand. It was one of our friends who has suggested the Audio books for the Blind. Report from SEWA Bharathi, IndiaRecently, under the auspicious of Rashtriya SEWA Bharati there was an all India conference from 4th to 7th September, 2004 at Calicut, Kerala to facilitate efficient pursuance of working of SEWA Bharati, India has been divided into following eleven administrative units, which will work independently in their respective areas. SEWA Bharati (Madhya Bharat) Bhopal covering Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh provinces, are one of the above 11 units.

Sarada Anbu Illam inaugurated in Nagercovil

Sarada Anbu Illam, an orphanage, which houses around 50 boys, was inaugurated on July 13 in the presence of senior saints, activists of Sewa Bharati, Sewa International and RSS adhikaris. A woman had donated the land for building the Anbu Illam with strict instructions to keep her identity undisclosed. Her husband’s wish to build a Ram temple on the premises of the Anbu Illam has also been fulfilled by the Sewa International and Kumbabhishekam was also performed on the same day. The inaugural function was attended by over 500 local people. The gathering was addressed by Shri Chaitanyar, Shri Pamban Adigalar and Shri Sethumadhavanji among others. They highlighted the point that the ultimate aim of the Anbu Illam is to mould the children into great citizens. The Anbu Illam, which sprawls over three floors, has good spacious halls, a locker each for every inmate, etc.
