Training to women writers of slums

Sahitya Academy, MP Sanskriti Parishad in co-ordination with Seva Bharti has organised for the first time a two-day training workshop for the women writers of Slums. Panchayat Raj Commissioner Mrs Veena Ghanekar inaugurated the workshop by lighting the traditional lamp.
Commending efforts of the Parishad Mrs Ghanekar said that the thinking of women living in Slums would help create a good family and society in future.
Sahitya Academy director Dr Devendra Deepak said that the writing done from air-conditioned bungalows and Coffee House about life in slums is far away from truth. Sahitya Academy is trying to reach the deprived of people.

Construction work to begin on Monday

BIJAPUR: Sites will be handed over to donors on Monday to construct houses in 32 villages which faced the flood havoc and are scheduled to shift to new places in the district, said district in-charge minister Govind Karjol.

Talking to reporters here on Sunday, he said, "I personally visited Ukumanal and Kotyal villages on Saturday evening and inspected the facilities provided. Land has been developed for 32 new villages, for the remaining 10 villages land will be acquired shortly by providing basic facilities like roads, electricity and water, he said.

The donors who came forward to construct new houses provided by the government signed a memorandum of understanding with the government are Seva Bharati Trust, Adi Chunchanagiri Math, Suttur Math, Essar Groups. A letter has been dispatched to these donors to take possession of land for construction purpose. All of them will commence construction work from Monday, he said.

A two-day Training Programme for women writers, who are residing at slum areas will be organised under the joint aegis of Sahitya Akadami Madhya Pradesh Sanskriti Parishad, Bhopal and in association with Seva Bharati from December 20 to 21 at the premises of Ananddham. It was informed by the Director of Sahitya Akadami Dr Devendra Deepak. He said that the writers, who write literature about the residents of slum areas or about slums to sit at a modern Coffee House or Air-conditioned office, it is not true.
The workshop will be inaugurated on Sunday at 11 am at Ananddham by the Commissioner of Panchayatiraj Ms Veena Ghanekar by lightening a traditional lamp. The workshop will be presided over the popular litterateur (scholar) Ms Jyotsa Milan. The prominent litterateur Ms Malti Joshi, Dr Rajashree Rawat, Dr Vinay Rajaram, Dr Pratibha Gurjar, Ms Jaya Arya, Ms Veena Savlok will give training .

By R Guru Prasad Seva Bharati has identified 11 taluks in 15 villages spread across 6 districts to construct a total of 2371 houses. An MoU, signed between Seva Bharati, Karnataka, and Government of Karnataka regarding construction of houses, indicates that at least 2371 families will be able to live peacefully.
Seva Bharati, the service wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, is doing a remarkable job by providing houses to North Karnataka people who lost their dwellings in the recent floods. RSS Unit Seva Bharathi to adopt flood-affected villages

In this connection a meet was organized at Karnataka Bank Auditorium, Kodialbail in the city. S R Rangamurthy welcoming the gathering informed Seva Bharathi has joined hands with the government in helping those hit by the flood disasters in North Karnataka. They have planned to help these victims of circumstances by adopting some villages and building houses over there, for them. He also explained the working procedure of the association by helping out in times of disasters by being there at the right time.

BIJAPUR: Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa will visit Bijapur district for two days from Tuesday to oversee flood-relief Work

Briefing reporters the CM's itinerary here on Monday, district minister Govind Karjol said Yeddyurappa will tour Bagalkot district on Tuesday and stay at Bijapur for the night. On Wednesday, he will lay foundation stones for the rehabilitation of flood-hit Ukumanal village (at 9.30 am), Nad BK village of Indi taluk (12.30 pm), Arjunagi village (2 pm), and Ramanalli and Guddalli villages of Sindagi taluk.

The foundation stone for other villages will be laid by local MLAs, the minister said, adding he himself may lay some foundation stones if time permits. The government will relocate 42 flood-affected villages in the district, Karjol said, adding the land required for 25 villages has already been purchased. MoU signed to build 2371 houses

BANGALORE: Seva Bharati Trust has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) [CLICK HERE FOR A COPY OF THE MOU] with the state government to construct 2371 houses in 16 villages in seven flood-hit districts of North Karnataka .
Seva Bharati Trust coordinator Dinesh Hegde who signed the MoU told reporters that the construction work would start from December 1.
The construction of all the houses is expected to be complete by May 2010.
Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa who was present on the occasion said that the the relief and rehabilitation works will be intensifiedfrom tomorrow.
The work on relocation of villages will start from first week of December.

Seva Bharati to construct over 2371 houses for flood hit

Bangalore, Nov 19: Sevabharati, an organ of the Sangh Pariwar, has came forward construct 2371 houses for the flood affected families in Northern Karnataka A MoU was today signed between the government and the trustees of Sevabharati in the presence of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Speaking to newsmen after inking the MoU with the State Government, the Project coordinator of the Sevabharati said that the houses would be built in 16 villages in seven districts.

Sevabharati Trust, a non-profit organisation would construct each house at a cost of Rs 1.30 lakhs for which State government would allot land.

"The trust would hand over all the constructed houses to the state government to distribute it to the beneficiaries," he said.

The construction would be completed before next monsoon, by May 2010, he said.

Mr Yeddyurappa said the foundation laying works for the construction of over two lakh houses would be completed before December first week.

It had been a dream of both Dr U V Shenoy and ‘Seva Bharathi Trust’ since the last two decades, to establish a school exclusively for the blind. The dream has come true now, in the form of the above school.

The State Government is carrying out the rehabilitation work in regions affected by rain and floods in North Karnataka. About 300 villages would be shifted, said Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa. He was addressing a press meet at Banagaramakki in Honnavar taluk on Monday after dedicating a golden shield to the Veeranjenya at Bangarammakki.
The Chief Minister said at Kadawad where over 19 people were killed in a landslip, 40 houses would be built to house the displaced family by Seva Bharati at Kadawad. About Rs. 1,500 crore was collected from the donors by the State Government and it would be spent for the rehabilitation work in the State. About three lakh houses would be built at a cost of Rs. 1 lakh each, he said.

The experience after training rural youth at Udyamita Vidyapeeth, Deendayal Research Institute’s Rural Entrepreneur Training Centre at Chitrakoot, showed that, after training, except for raw material based industries, no individual was able to set up need based industries due to a lack of To overcome this problem, Udyamita Vidyapeeth, drew out project proposals for the rural youth to have them avail of bank loans. However, none of the youth wanted the loans. They listed various difficulties, including the payment of interest, as the reason for their reluctance.
Udyamita Vidyapeeth realized that the funding requirements of a majority of the applicants were minor. From donations received by the Institute, Udyamita Vidyapeeth opened a bank account under the name ‘Swavalamban”, to advance interest free micro loans to those in need.

The Union home minister, Chidambaram, keeps mum on additional funds for relief worksRehabilitation work gained momentum in Bagalkot district on Monday after Union home minister P Chidambaram and chief minister BS Yeddyurappa laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of flood-affected villages.The state government has joined hands with the private sector to launch the 'Aasare' programme to shift the flood-affected villages. Seva Bharathi’s Succor to the flood victims


Seva Bharathi is a service organization started by few concerned service oriented persons inspired by the ideals of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. It has grown to manage 1.5 lac service activities all over India.

The sudden floods in four districts of Andhra Pradesh state created devastation in the lives of more than two lakhs families completely making them home less. The death toll as per the papers is increased to 200 hundred people and an unaccounted number of animals have been drown in flood water. The government has declared that the estimated loss of the floods is Rs.12,225 corers in addition to the infrastructure damage of Rs. 10,000 crores.

The floods affected districts in Kurnool are due to overflow of Thungabadra and Kundu rivers and Srislaiam dam; Mahboob Nagar, Guntur and Krishna districts are due to The Krishna river floods.
