Success stories of Projects run by Seva Bharati Meghalaya
1.    Charitable Mobile Medical Dispensary:
 Seva Bharati Meghalaya is running two Mobile Medical Dispensaries in West
Khasi Hills & Jaintia Hills Districts of Meghalaya since 2001. The third
Mobile Medical Dispensary has been started in 2006 which is running in Garo
Hills. Under this project a team of 4-5 Karyakarta with doctor arranges medical
camp in remote villages of Meghalaya. The frequency of camps is 15 camps per
month. Total 140 villages get benefit of this project. Following table shows
the no of camps and no of patients benefited.

·  Project Achievements :
1.  50 villages of Jaintia Hills & 40 villages from Khasi Hills benefited by
the Mobile Dispensary of Seva Bharati in Jaintia Hills
2.  Patients from Shangpung & nearby villages getting medical aid from ourcentre in Shangpung, Jaintia Hills. People of Nongdom village where the centre of 2nd Mobile Dispensary is situated are getting healing touch from
the project of Seva Bharati.
3.       
The Mobile dispensary also has extended a helping hand to the refugee Camp at Sahsniang in the hour of crises due to ethnic violence in Block I & Block II.
4.       
The Medical Camp of Seva Bharati at Mukroh village in Jaintia Hills scored
maximum number of patients (above 150). The team was working till late evening in the village. Villagers got a feel  of relief on that day.
5.       
Health condition of people in monthly centre (villages like Mukhap &
Khonshnong) is improving.
6.       
Mynktung, a village which has no access through road for vehicle, also getting
benefit from the project due to devotion & dedication of workers of Seva
Bharati. Doctor with the staff of Mobile Dispensary has been conducting camps reaching there on foot by walking one & half hour.
7.  Local Doctors also working voluntarily with Seva Bharati and taking part in medical camps.
8.       
Various programmes like Healthy Baby show, Health Awareness Camp has been arranged by the project team under the guidance of Project Director. These programmes are getting good response from the villagers. The villagers are becoming health conscious as a result of hard working of Seva Bharati.
9.       
Dr. Devendra has got a opportunity to serve a mother and infant of 2 days by
giving a good treatment to them. It was a case with full medical complexions in
a remote village where no health care facilities were available other than the
Mobile Dispensary of Seva Bharati..
10.    The Seva Bharati has introduced Ayurvedic Medicines in medical camps to protect & preserve Indian system of Medicine & people are getting good results from it.
2.    Village Health Workers Project : This project is started in 2000
with a team of 9 Village Health from 5 villages in Jaintia Hills. Now it has
spread to 174 villages of 7 districts of Meghalaya. The youths from remote
villages are trained to help patients and they are given first aid box with
them. The villagers get instant help in their common diseases. District wise
monthly meeting of Health Workers also held to improve their knowledge and to
fill their medicine box. All health workers works voluntarily.  Health
awareness meetings are also held in different villages with the help of these
Health Workers.

Study tour of health workers was held in shillong to introduce them with the medical facilities available in Shillong.
Health workers from remote villages got the new confidence
from Study tour. The CBRC – Capacity Building Residential Camp also held
was held in Shillong to develop the health workers skills and knowledge.
·   Project Achievements :
1.     Tribal people who live in remote jungle got a new helping hand in their illness.
2.     Poor people benefited because to get one paracetamol also they had to go to district head quarter which was very expensive to them. This problem has been solved by Village Health Worker.
3.     Health awareness meetings helped much in awakening people about health and hygiene. Now they are taking precaution while using drinking water and other sources of diseases.
4.     Seva Bharati has inspired tribal youths from different villages to work for their own society. Now no. of youth are working for their village. They not only gives paracetamol but also help in every need of people and set an example of good social worker.

3.    Educational Project of sending Students outside State. :
This project was started in 1995 with 10 students from Khasi Hills went for
their schooling in Pune through Seva Bharati with the help of RSS Janakalyan
Samiti Maharashtra. Now there are 164 students studying in 13  hostels in
Maharashtra. There are many students who study in different state like Delhi,
Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa, Assam through Seva Bharati. Apart from their
schooling Seva Bharati also trying to impart good samskars to students and make
them nationalistic citizen of India. Seva Bharati conducts personality
development camps of these students in vacation.

§ Project Achievements :

1.     Some students who completed their education through this project are working in our schools as teacher.
2.     Amit Hajong, student from Garo Hills and Aiomksiar, student from Khasi Hills district, after completing their schooling from this project now they are studying M.B.B.S. Delina Khongdup, student from Khasi hills is studying LLB in Pune. Shailendra Laso, student from Khasi Hills now studying M.B.A. in Karnawati.
3.     The tribal people of Meghalaya who were hesitating to send their wards through Seva Bharati due to propaganda of antinational Christian missionaries now they trust Seva Bharati and there is rush for getting seat in our hostels.

4.    Book Bank Project : The book bank project started in the
year 2007-08 has given a very positive response from the people. Seva Bharati
has helped TYDA to run this project. It has distributed in its first initiative
free text books to 112 students from 43 villages of Riwar Mihngi circle of East
Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya. These sets of books have to be returned at the
end of the annual academic year so that they can be redistributed to other
students at the beginning of the school. The old members too can renew their
registration for the new sets of books. The following table shows the no of

The above students are from different schools and villages of the Pynursla block. Our effort is to support the poor and the needy families so that they can extent their wards schooling and acquire knowledge as the 21st century is the era of Education.
Our aim is not yet fulfilled only with these but to work harder not only to provide free sets of books. But to continuously inspire and motivate the students to achieve their goal by interaction and conducting various innovative programmes by various experts and distinguish personalities from various fields. We have been conducting
bi-monthly meeting og the member students for four times in 2008. in these
meetings the students is given an opportunity to interact with the experienced
teacher such as Mrs. Drimsibon Kharkongngor the ex-principal of Seng Khasi
College, Jaiaw in our very first meeting. This interaction gave each student a chance to solve their problems through question-answer session. The 2nd meeting was held on 10.08.2008 at Pynursla with Shri. Shekhar Ranjan Das the ex-principal of Laban Bengalee Boy's Higher Secondary School, Laban as our chief guest. And Dr. Krishna Gopal an expert in environmental science from Banaras Hindu University, Utter Pradesh as our chief guest in 3rd meet. These programmes not only inspired and motivated the students but also helped them to know more about the upcoming career options and the challenges in their further studies.
· Project Achievements :

1.     Six students from Class VIII have got first position in their respective schools. Most of the student have successfully completed their educational year 2007-08.
2.     Smt. Binan, Parent from Wahkdait Village said to our Karyakarta "Your selfless service to the society is appreciable. Students are getting inspiration through various programs. They came in contact with the elite educated persons from Shillong city. It creates competitive educational atmosphere among students."
3.     Bansarihun Khongmalai, a student from Wahkdait got a new educational life through this book bank. She was thinking to leave her education due to poor economical condition.
4.     Students got inspiration and feeling of confidence through various counseling programs arranged by organization.
5.     Some educational institutes also got inspiration to start similar project which benefits their students.

5.   Library Project :  Seva Bharati has recently started this
project in association with Akshar Bharati organization  from Pune. Seva
Bharati has started 8 libraries in Meghalaya. It has provided set 300 story
books for students to read. It is to improve improve their reading skill and
general knowledge. This libraries are running in 2 (Belbari, Tikrikilla) places
in Garo hills and 6 places in Khasi Jaintia Hills (Nongdom, Lawbah, Pynursla,
Sabahmuswang, Marngar, Shillong).
6.    Bharat Mera Ghar : It is a unique activity of Seva Bharati
Meghalaya with the purpose of National Integration Selected men and women from
different walks of life from Tribal Hills of Meghalaya participate in this tour
every year. Visitors from Maharashtra came to Meghalaya and guests from
Meghalaya visit to Maharashtra to know the traditions culture and social system of each other. They visit the places of Tourist interest and as well various social projects and Hostels of Meghalaya student in Maharashtra With this programme Seva Bharati has succeeded to make man to man contact and heart to heart talk among the tribal people of Meghalaya and people from Maharashtra.. This year 10
such people will visit Meghalaya in the month of April 2008.
