BANGALORE: More than 1,000 slum children from Seshadripuram area got their eyes tested and treated at an eye screening camp conducted by Narayana Nethralaya as a part of its “Slum 10K” -- a pediatric eye care initiative in collaboration with Aruna Chetana and Seva Bharathi, two city based NGOs.
In the camp, 145 children were diagnosed with visual problems. Some of the conditions detected( against numbers) were: corneal problems (2), Squint (08), Retinal (07), Eye Lid problems (03) and cataract (04). Children, who require surgery and treatment will be treated, free of cost, at Narayana Nethralaya. Over 100 children received free spectacles.
The project was aimed at eradicating blindness and eye diseases in children.
