Seva Bharati to construct over 2371 houses for flood hit

Bangalore, Nov 19: Sevabharati, an organ of the Sangh Pariwar, has came forward construct 2371 houses for the flood affected families in Northern Karnataka A MoU was today signed between the government and the trustees of Sevabharati in the presence of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Speaking to newsmen after inking the MoU with the State Government, the Project coordinator of the Sevabharati said that the houses would be built in 16 villages in seven districts.

Sevabharati Trust, a non-profit organisation would construct each house at a cost of Rs 1.30 lakhs for which State government would allot land.

"The trust would hand over all the constructed houses to the state government to distribute it to the beneficiaries," he said.

The construction would be completed before next monsoon, by May 2010, he said.

Mr Yeddyurappa said the foundation laying works for the construction of over two lakh houses would be completed before December first week.

Mangalore, Nov 19: With the setting up of a new, full-fledged school for the blind children of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and neighbouring districts, ‘Roman and Catherine School for the Blind’ at 3rd Cross, Kotekani Road, Kapikad, Bejai Post, Mangalore – 575 004, a new beginning has been made.
It had been a dream of both Dr U V Shenoy and ‘Seva Bharathi Trust’ since the last two decades, to establish a school exclusively for the blind. The dream has come true now, in the form of the above school.
The name of Carmine Lobo, because of whose relentless efforts, she and ‘Seva Bharathi’ have joined hands to shape a better future for the blind children of the region, deserves a special mention. ‘Seva Bharathi,’ under the guidance of Dr U V Shenoy, has the experience of running a school in the city exclusively for the mentally challenged, named ‘Chetana Child Development Centre’ at V T Road.
