Sewa Bharati organises wedding of deprived girls

Source: Organiser SHAHDARA unit of Sewa Bharati Delhi organised mass wedding of deprived girls at Geeta Co Education Senior Secondary School at Shankar Nagar recently. BJP MLA Dr Harsh Vardhan and Congress MLA Shri Nasib Singh were also present on the occasion to bless the newly wedded couples. The pairs were also provided certain things essential for starting the new family. Sewa Bharati has been organising such functions in different parts of the capital every year. The barat of the sixteen grooms began from Raghunath Mandir, Krishna Nagar and reached Shankar Nagar where the wedding ceremony was conducted. Local MCD Councellor Dr VK Monga, secretary of Sewa Bharati Shri Gyan Prakash and other office bearers of the organisation also blessed the newly wedded pairs.

77 donate blood: A blood donation camp was organised in Ram Mandir here today by three social organisations of Dera Bassi. Nearly 77 volunteers donated blood in this camp, which was collected by a blood bank team of the PGI, Chandigarh. This camp was jointly organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad, Sewa Bharti and Shri Guru Nanak Nam Lewa Society. Sewa Bharti distributed food to poor people.

Drinking water shortage in Kerala, especially in the high and midland areas, has become so acute that the inhabitants have to depend on water supply by private operators. In the Erath Panchayat of Pathanamthitta district, many households are buying water for washing and other purposes at Rs 350 (US$ 7.80) / 1,000 litres while drinking water costs Rs600-800 (US$ 13-US $18) / 1,000 litres. According to Mr Mohan Das, a social activist, neither the government nor the panchayats are supplying drinking water in areas facing severe shortage The Seva Bharathi, he said, is supplying drinking water to households free of cost in the Ayroor Panchayat. Youth for Sewa is planning a trip to a hostel run by 'Vanavasi Kalyan Parishad' (http://www.vanavasi.org/) coming Sunday 4th April. This hostel is run for Tribal students and is located in Acchampet, a 3 hour drive from Hyderabad. The Hostel is celebrating its annual day on 4th and it would be an ideal opportunity for us to get a glimpse of the work done by VKP and see how our Tribal brethren live in Harmony with nature. Â
 We will reach Acchampet, via Srisailam. This will be a scenic drive and add to the fun. We will leave early morning and come back late on 4th night.

The expected expense for the trip is Rs 1000/-
