Houses handed over to tsunami survivors

Nagapattinam,Sep23 (PTI) A total of 150 houses constructed at a cost of Rs 4.40 crore by Seva Bharathi, using funds provided by the Gujarat Government, were handed over to tsunami survivors in Nagapattinam district. The houses have been constructed in two hamlets - Muttam near Nagore and Melamoovarkarai near Sirkazhi. In a function held at Muttam hamlet, Sethumadhavan, South India Organiser, RSS, handed over the keys of the houses to the district administration, in the presence of Pon Radhakrishnan, BJP's Tamil Nadu unit President. The keys were handed over to Sathidevi, Special Tahsildar, tsunami rehabilitation projects. Radhakrishnan recalled the services rendered by the Gujarat Government for tsunami survivors. On the reported rise in swine flu cases in Tamil Nadu, Radhakrishnan urged the state Government to initiate steps on a war-footing to contain the virus. President of Seva Bharathi's Tamil Nadu Unit Durai Sankar, RSS South Tamil Nadu Organiser Kesava Vinayakan, Seva Bharathi's state general secretary Balasundaram, BJP's state organising secretary Mohanarajulu and others participated.
