Sewabharati AP : Three day Personality development camp for Children of Affection homes and Schools

A three day personality  (24, 25, 26 th dec 2010) development camp has been organised for the children of affection homes / orphanages and schools run by Seva bharathi Andhra Pradesh. The Sishu Mandir in Saidabad is this years camp host for the 91 children from these homes. Sewa Bharathi runs 20 Affection homes for the children destituted or orphaned or under previliged also child labour victims and benefits the 586 children directly in 11 districts of Rayalaseema and Telangana. The homes are run in interior rural, tribal and slum areas where the need is more than what is felt.

Represented by 16 Affection Homes and 4 schools run by seva bharathi the camp was a big success. There were 68 children from 16 homes (63 boys and 5 girls) and 23 children from 4 schools (8 boys and 15 girls) they have been trained in Play songs (Abhinaya geyalu), Folk Songs (Janapada geyalu) a play skit and drama and chekka bhajana and kolatam. Also the children were taught how to run a Non formal education center (Bala samskara Kendra) and Vedic mathematics and Bharat Darshan (an overview of all states of India / Bharat).

The children all but the 10th class students have been brought together as a get together from the 11 districts of Rayalaseema and Telangana. They were taught primarily personality development and they would be encouraged to attend the Samskara Kendras / Non formal educational centers in the slums and the rural interiors and tribal hamlets. The idea is to encourage them to mingle and buildup interaction with rest of the society. The children were very excited after the camp to get back and run the kendras as well as looking forward to interact with children less privileged than themselves.
