Sewa Bharathi School for slum dwellers recieves YFS School Kit

YFS Distributes School kit to the slum dwellers at Sewa Bharathi School, Madhava vidyalaya, Balaji Nagar, Secunderabad


In a very intense and gripping game that weathered repeated interruption from the rains, ‘Newport Nukes’, a team from Jersey City won the “YFS Cricket For Charity - 2012” tournament organized by Youth For Sewa (YFS) volunteers from Sewa International’s NY Metro Chapter on June 2-3. For the second year in a row, Sewa International succeeded in blending enthusiasm for cricket and a desire to help a good cause – educating underprivileged children in Bharat. This year's event raised $30,000 and had registrations from 350 players from 34 teams. Compared to 2011, both the funds-raised and the participation increased by 20%.
Mr. Raj Mukherji, Jersey City’s Deputy Mayor, while presenting trophy and medals said he was very impressed by the participation in the tournament and liked the concept of selfless service portrayed by Sewa and stressed the importance of volunteerism in building a healthy community.

Free coaching for needy students: Seva Bharathi Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Apr 3: A free intensive coaching centre for Class IX & X was formally inaugurated by the headmaster of Govt Middle School, Pachin, Tadar Kame at the premises of Abotani Vidya Niketan, Pachin yesterday. About 160 students of class IX and X students were benefited through this programme last year which was also held at Abotani Vidya Niketan. While hailing the ‘noble’ venture initiated by the Seva Bharati Arunachal Pradesh for the needy students especially belonging to economically poor families, Kame said it would go a long way in helping out them on academic front. The general secretary of Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti, Nabam Ruja highlighted the success stories in different parts of the state under this ‘noble’ venture by the Seva Bhararti.

Vyasa Vidya kendram: Seva Bharathi's computer center in Kollemcode

Seva Bharathi opened a computer center in Kollemcode, named Vyasa vidhya kendram (Team computer center) on 01.06.2012.. Seva bharathi state president Sri.Parameswarji inaugurated the function. This center is still functioning on the old Team center building( Kalluvettan kuzhi, near to Kollemcode police station).Now they are going to start a 3 month free course for 30 students, under a central Govt. scheme. They formed a new trust for this organization in the leadership of Mr.Manikandan Nair. Lot of sponsors also came forward to support this scheme.

Dedicated to helping others

My experience with “Sewa Bharti”, provided me a chance to work with women. The work is focused on socially and economically marginalized Dalit women to improve thier income and social status which helped me to understand the process of government programmes regarding SHG formation.
During my work with Punashcha I developed training modules for teachers, children [School going and outside schools] and community regarding learning from our surroundings and prepared implementation plan of UNICEF supported programme “KNOW YOURSELF AND SURROUNDINGS”. My work with organization enriched my ability to develop training modules, planning and implementation of project.
As a social activist, I played important role in various social movements with Student Organizations, Indian Peoples Theatre Association (IPTA) and other social organizations, and have passion to work for common man.
