An appeal for four innocent kids

The soul of 41 year old Shasikala, who succumbed to tuberculosis, will always be grateful to Seva Bharati for having stood by her 4 tiny tots and taking over their responsibilities by adopting them. The children, who have been given a new lease of life have been instilled with renewed confidence under the care of Vivekananda Balakashramam, Chennampilly. The eldest is Jithin, followed by the twins Ajith and Vijith, 12 years. The youngest is Bijin, 9 years.

The children were entrusted to the Balakashramam by organization President Dr. Kulangara Ramachandran Nair, Prof. NR Nair, Ashram Pramukh G Gopinathan Nair, District Seva Pramukh of RSS N Venu, Sudhakaran Kaipattoor, Pandalam Block Member B Prasad Kumar, Madhava Trust Secretary Unni.

Sewa Bharti Snehalaya rehabilitation centre for HIV-Hit children : Sewa Bharati

Snehalaya rehabilitation centre has proved as a home of respect for children belonging to red light area and affected by HIV. Himmatgram project initiated by Snehalaya in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra has become a new ray of hope for the children of women engaged in prostitution.

The man behind this noble work is Girish Kulkarni. A social karyakarta since college years, Prof Kulkarni once witnessed an extremely bitter picture in red light area. A 14-year-old girl was brought there and forced to prostitution. He was extremely moved by her plight and vowed to transform this situation. Along with his team of karyakartas, he started visiting the habitats of prostitutes and earned their trust to take them out of this deep well. This gave birth to his maiden project for the upliftment of HIV-hit children that served as a lighthouse for the other social institutions.

Sewabharti: Swami Vivekananda Shoba yatra

Hundreds of school students and residents holding placards and pictures took part in a "Shobha Yatra" taken out on Saturday evening to mark the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda. The programme was organised by Swami Vivekanand Jayanti Samaroh Samiti.

The "Shobha Yatra" accompanied by a tableaux of the wandering monk that was flagged off by local MLA and Cabinet Minister Surjit Kumar Jyani.

Free coaching for APCS aspirants: Sewa Bharti Arunachal

ITANAGAR: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parisad (ABVP), Arunachal Pradesh & Sewa Bharti in collaboration with Gyan Prabodhini, Pune is going to organize a special free coaching program (preliminary examination) for APCS aspirants at various places of the State such as Itanagar, Aalo, Pasighat, Tezu and Seppa from Jan 18 to 26. For the purpose, 20 resource persons with numerous credentials are coming from Pune. In each center, only first 40 candidates will be enrolled for coaching having 5 hours duration every day. While informing this, ABVP said the interested candidates may enroll themselves in their convenient study center at the earliest.


Sewa Bharti organises pre-Lohri festival

A Pre-Lohri festival was sponsored by Neelam Nargotra vice-president Sewa Bharti Women Wing Udhampur District Jail Udhampur Thursday. Cultural Bonanza was presented by jail inmates of all communities. Jail staff and CRPF staff also participated in the said festival. SSP Jail Vinod Kumar graced the occasion by his presence and welcomed all the guests. Lastly SSP jail Vinod Kumar presented vote of thanks to all the guests especially media persons for sparing their valuable time in fine tuning the function. At the end of the program, peanuts, rewari, and popcorns were distributed among the jail inmates and CRPF staff.
