About Sevabharathi
Sevabharathi is a socio-cultural organisation carrying out its service activities based on the ideals propounded by great men like Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo and Mahatma Gandhi, in order to bring out social integration and all round development of the nation. Sevabharati was established in 1989. Sevabharathi’s activities are spread in all the states and  union territories of India. The volunteers of Sevabharati today are involved in more than one lac service projects in remote areas of the country. Volunteers have been the first to reach many natural calamities, be it floods, accidents or other natural calamities like Earth quake or Tsunami. Sevabharati is serving the economically weaker and socially neglected sections of the society range from medical assistance, library, hostel, basic education, adult education, vocational and industrial training, up-liftment of street children and the lepers. Through these projects Sevabharati aims at making the underprivileged sections of the society self-reliant in all aspects of their lives. What makes Sevabharathi unique is its presence in all the states of Indian union. These enable the organization to focus attention on the poorest and most disadvantaged communities.

Organization
Sevabharati is inspired from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and is the official Community service umbrella of allied organizations. The Akhil Bharatiya Seva Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh guides the organization and is also represented in the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi sabha, the ultimate decision making body of the Sangh.
Sevabharathi Kanhangad
Sevabharathi Kanhangad was inaugurated by Sri S Sethumadhavan a senior pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on 2004 December 31. It was registered in 2005 as a society (Reg No: 464/2005) and affiliated to Dr. Hedgewar Janma shatabdi seva trust. Sevabharathi Kanhangad is in forefront of social service activities and are implementing numerous service projects like orphanage, food distribution at Kanhangad District Hospital, Ambulance Service at affordable cost, Blood donation, Aid to poor students for their education, medical aid etc. Kanhangad Sevabharathi conducted Medical camps and Medical awareness camps since its inception in 2004. The Vrindavan Balasadanam is functioning at Mavungal and it provides shelter to 19 small boys. The boys are given proper education. Annadanam project is run by Sevabharathi under which serves food to more than 300 patients and bystanders in Kanhangad District Hospital since 2004.
Day to day Expenses
Sevabharathi Kanhangad office and Vrindavanam Balasadanam function in a rented building at Mavungal town. It costs around 1.80 Lakhs per year as rent and other expenses. We own a four wheel vehicle to transport food from kitchen to district hospital. Three servants are involved in supply of food to the patients. These all cost around 10 Lakhs per year. In addition to that we also supply medicines, bedsheets, beds to the poor.
Ongoing Projects of Sevabharathi Kanhangad
Sevabharathi Kanhagad is embarking on a new project ‘Sevamrutham’ a multi service project at lush green land of Achikkanam village. The location is only 5 KM apart from Kanhangad Town. This project includes
1. Vrindavanam Balasadanam (Boys’  shelter home)
2. Primary School
3. Vocational Training Center
4. Yoga and Meditation center
5. Vanaprasthashram (old age home)
6. Goshala (Cattle Farm).
Sevabharathi Kanhangad is also planning to start a Balika Sadanam (Girl’s orphanage) which provide safe shelter to poor girls. The estimated cost of the Sevamrutham Project is 10 crores. The first phase of Sevamrutham project ‘Vrindavanam Balasadanam’ will be inaugurated in May, 2013.
