Sewabharathi - Udhampur and DFP organize awareness campaign on RTI Act

The Udhampur unit of Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India in coordination with SEWA Bharati NGO organized a special programme at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chenani today. The programme was organsied under the chairmanship of Shri Purnendu Mandal, Principal of the school. A quiz contest was held with a special emphasis on Right to Information Act followed by lectures on the subject to explain the importance of this Act. As part of the campaign, the unit organized a series of public awareness programmes at Kud, Mada, Champeri, Kumarian, Noti and Swena villages about various aspects and provisions of the Act.
During these programmes, film screenings, group discussions, seminars lectures and quiz contests were organized to sensitize the masses about RTI Act that can prove to be an effective tool to curb the menace of corruption and in-turn revive transparency. Shri Gurnam Singh, Incharge Field Publicity Unit, Udhampur highlighted the importance of this Act and urged upon the audience to make full use of this Act for the betterment of society and prosperity of the nation. During the campaign, the services of a number of intellectuals, teachers and experts were utilized as resource persons providing elaborated information of RTI Act.
The participants of these programmes were honoured with prizes at the end of the functions.
