#Sewabharati Appeal for Support to #NepalEarthquake #Victims 2015

Nepal is a relatively poor country without extensive resources despite its rich cultural heritage and spectacular mountain scenery.

The magnitude-7.8 quake was the worst to hit Nepal in eight decades and caused damage and fatalities in neighboring countries. In addition to more than 1,900 people killed in Nepal, a total of at least 60 died in India, Bangladesh, China's region of Tibet and Pakistan.

The earthquake hit a heavily populated area of Nepal, including the capital, Kathmandu, and its impact spread far beyond the Kathmandu Valley. Strong aftershocks were felt as late as Sunday morning.

Local hospitals were filling with injured residents, and Kathmandu's international airport was shut down for hours, hampering initial relief efforts in the isolated mountainous country.

Quick USGS calculations estimate a two-thirds likelihood of between 1,000 and 100,000 fatalities and damage between $100 million and $10 billion

Sewabharati teams are on the ground in Kathmandu and affected villages in rescue and relief operations supporting the Nepalese police and paramedics. The Sewa volunteers are forming co ordination committees to work with all those working on the ground.

The volunteers are providing drinking water, food packets, clothes, temporary shelter, medicines for the needy. SewaBharati Varanasi will be sending 'Relief Material' & Medical Help.

The relief efforts will continue for weeks and months to come. Through its sister organizations, Sewa International and HSS rescue and rehabilitation efforts; providing drinking water, food packets, clothes, temporary shelter, medicines etc. are being organised in Earthquake affected areas of Kathmandu valley and Pokhara valley two of the most densely populated areas in Nepal.

Sewabharati has resolved to serve the earthquake affected in Nepal as well as Bharat and join hands with other selfless organizations for serving effectively and timely. SewaBharati appeals to the benevolent to be generous to provide succor to the Nepal Earthquake affected.

Lets Join hands and help the needy Victims of Nepal Earthquake
